
Mentoring
Access mentors are an integral part of helping youth succeed. They help youth stay connected and on track to achieve their goals, develop a positive vision for the future, and build resilience.
Mentors support mentees by:

Empowering them to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future

Providing a model for a healthy, trusting relationships through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries

Acknowledging mentee strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them

Being an active listener and offering support and encouragement when appropriate, through person centered trauma informed approaches

Engaging in employment and education activities to help expose mentee to new opportunities and experiences

Assisting with developing social and educational engagement activities and group events in collaboration with staff and other mentors
